Sketching, Storyboarding, and Wireframing
I was involved in creating the onboarding portion of a mobile application for an Augmented Reality Mobile Application designed to bring Augmented Reality to a gaming platform that goes beyond gaming to bring social interactions to augmented reality such as sharing, playing, and interacting with friends in the AR space.
I researched existing onboarding experiences in AR applications and explored the idea of how to teach the user to use the augmented reality application to have the best experience. This involved creating sketches and storyboards to explore ideas and present these ideas to the client. I also created workflows to establish the functionality of the onboarding process. These are not the project workflows but an example of the types of workflows I use for augmented reality.

Storyboards for the User Experience
I created storyboards to walk through the user experience for mapping the environment to improve the tracking for the application. Understanding the location of planes is important for augmented reality experiences.
I created sketches and wireframes as a continuation of the storyboards. I also used MARS in a second unity project to help visualize the AR to the team as well as the client. The biggest challenge in designing for AR mobile is getting past the 2D tools such as Adobe XD. AR tools such as Aero are helpful but don’t take the design process as far as it needs to go to fully understand the design. This project was an amazing opportunity to use my full range of skills as a XR Designer. I really enjoyed working with the lead UX designer as well as the rest of the team throughout the project.
I brought the final branding from other designers into the high def wireframes for the final prototype. This was a collaborative project. I worked predominantly on the augmented reality portions of the design.
